Teeth Whitening Dentist Royse City
People don’t just enjoy their coffee, tea or soda. Some people rely on them to get their morning started or as a pick-me-up for a particularly trying day. Unfortunately, a lifetime of consuming these and other stain-causing foods and drinks will take their toll on your teeth. Eventually, your teeth lose the bright whiteness of youth and begin to look yellow or even brown.
Formerly, patients were stuck with the color they had, which meant having to settle for a yellowed smile. Fortunately, advances in dental technology have changed that entirely. Today, patients can reverse the effects of coffee and other substances through teeth whitening procedures.
What is Teeth Whitening
Tooth discoloration is caused by pigments that attach to the white enamel of your teeth. Teeth whitening products fight these pigments by using one of two ingredients that are safe for teeth - either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. These break down the pigments into smaller pieces, eliminating some pigments and decreasing the concentration and effectiveness of others.
At Fate Family Dental, we provide patients with take-home tray whitening. This whitening method allows patients to improve the color of their enamel from the comfort of their homes without making a trip to the dentist (although we would love to see you!). This method is especially convenient for special events such as graduations, birthdays, weddings, and other photoshoots because you can safely whiten your teeth the day before!
During this treatment, the dentist creates a custom-fit tray that can be placed snugly against the patient’s teeth. The patient receives special whitening gel for home use. There, the patient applies a specified amount of the gel to the tray and then wears it for a few hours of the day. The exact amount of time and gel varies depending on the patient’s needs and the sensitivity of their teeth. The treatment continues until the patient has achieved acceptable results.
Not only is tray whitening effective but also easy to use and easy to clean, since the trays only require cold water and a scrub with a toothbrush or a cotton swab.
Your dentist would be more than happy to walk you through the entire process as well as discuss the pros and cons of each method. Teeth whitening may not be effective for certain stains, so it is important to consult with your dentist before beginning any treatment.
